The Table Name Game

I would like to start this post off by saying I'm a PC.
Not because I despice Macs, because clearly I would actually enjoy one.
But I just go through laptops every couple years and forking out a couple hundred vs. a grand everytime I want a new one is a little tough.
Blah, blah, blah Miss Pug I hear you...
"If you had a Mac you wouldn't have to buy one every couple years."
In conclusion, I don't know why they find the need to be SO different.
They made this project take double the time on my day off just because I couldn't figure 'ish out.
Even your mouse has to be lame, where is the scroller?

So here is how my DIY table names worked out. My dad does all of the signs for In-N-Out Burger, so because of the idea I had I needed to check out some of his resources in order to accomplish my plan. I farted around on the Mac for a bit in whatever program this is. Since my dad is a sign guy he has fonts galore and I ended up with this custom font that only they have. Apparently it was made for them for whatever reason. So I went with this font and started typing out my 25 California beaches I chose to use for our table names.

Before getting down to the official business I printed one out on normal paper to see the sizing on the sand dollars. There's aren't your typical sized sanddollars so they look small in these pix, I swear they are big enough to be table numbers.

Brought in a roll of the vinyl that we wanted to use, it's a fuschia watermelon color and works perfect with our color scheme. Note the In-N-Out palm tree wallpaper. I want some in my office or something at home, so fun. :)

My dad fed the vinyl through, typed a few abra-cadabrahs into the key board, and they printed out. He then laid them out for me on the sanddollars and they came out like this once in their little holder:

I'm really happy with the final product and I think it will be a fun little touch to all of the tables. I realized while making labels for my invitations last night we have a lot of people that live in the beaches that are some of our table numbers. I will have to make sure they don't sit at that table or they might not know why their city is on their escort card!

What are you doing for your table numbers? Are you doing something that strays away from the typical table numbers?

I'm with you on the Mac vs. PC issue - they are just too expensive and confusing for me :)

I think your table numbers came out great! We're also going to try to do something a bit different: silhouettes from landmarks in cities we've lived in or visited together. It looks great in my head, but don't know how it'll actually turn out...

Oh, those are so great. I love the pop of color on the sanddollar. Very unique and totally within your theme. :)

I blogged about our table numbers last month. I am in love with them. Found them on a fellow blogger's site and she shared from Martha Stewart. They are three frames placed back to back to form a luminary around a votive candle. The frames will have two pics of me and Mr Fix It in them and one side will have the table number with our graphic design on it in our wedding colors. All are printed on vellum paper so it's a very romantic and pretty glow through the frames. :) I love unique ideas like these.
